Streamlining the Assessment
The Tejas LEE was developed to maximize the acquisition of information about student’s skill development while at the same time, minimizing the time required for gathering this information. At each grade level, the tasks within each content area ordered by difficulty, and within each task the items are ordered by difficulty.

Branching rules were developed so teacher could skip sections a student was highly unlikely to have the skills to complete based on the student's performance on lower level tasks. For example, in first grade, within the phonological awareness tasks, if a student is unable to blend and segment phonemes, they will not be asked to attempt phoneme omission tasks. This system minimizes student frustration and teacher administration time.
