READING FIRST RESOURCES

Early identification of reading skills and comprehension development of young students is critical for planning and implementing a successful reading program. This is especially true for teachers using Spanish as the language of literacy instruction. Developed as an individually administered Spanish reading assessment, “El Inventario de Lectura en Español de Tejas” (Tejas LEE) measures reading and reading related skills important to the development of Spanish reading and comprehension in Kindergarten through Grade 3. Proper administration will result in a summary of student performance that can be used to plan and deliver targeted instruction. The Tejas LEE provides valuable data educators can use to help students develop into proficient, lifelong readers.

	2006-2008 Tejas LEE Assessment Kits: Grades K-2 Tejas LEE Assessment Kits are grade level specific and self contained. The Tejas LEE kits provide everything a teacher needs for administration of the Tejas LEE. Components include: A Teachers Guide Story and Task Booklets A set of 24 Individual student record sheets 2 Individual student record sheets for each additional grade level to allow for assessment above or below grade level Class Summary Sheets for each assessment point during the school year A Stopwatch (for fluency testing in grade 1 and 2 only) An Intervention Activities Guide.

This grade level specific Tejas LEE kit provides everything a teacher needs for administration of the Grade 3 Tejas LEE. 	2006-2008 Monitoreo de progreso para lectores principiantes (MPLP): Grado 1-3 The MPLP progress monitoring comes in a stand alone Tejas LEE kit. The progress monitoring kit contains all materials a teacher needs for administration of the MPLP with the exception of a stopwatch. Components include: A Teachers Guide A Booklet containing the word lists and stories for all three grade levels A set of 24 Individual student record booklets (of the grade level purchased) 2 Individual student record booklets for each additional grade level to allow for assessment above or below grade level
